A Snellings' Hanukah!

A Snellings' Hanukah is a very specific type of Hanukah. It involves brisket, latkes, family, friends, and tons of inappropriate jokes. This dinner started last year and will hopefully continue forever!
This year was a rather low key Hanukah for us. Luckily I am rarely ever wanting for something during the year, and even then the things I want are never ridiculously priced (minus a Europe vacation).

My mom and I started off the day by having the traditional Jewish breakfast - bagels! I have to say that B.B.'s Bagels may have gigantic bagels, but they sure are delicious! After that my mom and I made a last minute Kroger run to pick up any missing items needed for the night's dinner.

I then went over to the Narayanan's house to wrap presents! My mom is rather crafty..so you never know when she's looking over your shoulder! In the photo my mom's present is the larger and my dad's is the minuscule thing. I got my mom a craft book that has Jewish fabric crafts. She has so many books that it's difficult to find one that she doesn't have a version of. Luckily, this was just the thing! I got my dad a book he wanted by Clark Howard, but it hadn't arrived yet. So, I wrapped the little ad for it in the paper in a matchbox (hence the size of the present). My dad also finally got his desktop computer I gave him a year or two ago fixed and set up (it was my old computer that just had a memory issue - thanks for the tech work Mrs. Kathleen!).

My family and I exchanged gifts before my friends came over for dinner. I got Skyrim (hooray!!!) and a t-shirt from shirt.woot.com! It features a very cute kitten making bread. For those of you who don't know cats, when they get happy they start kneading with their front paws aka making biscuits/bread. I loveee it so much! Plus I've been playing Skyrim nightly..I may yell every time I kill a dragon! I also got a lovely set of Gumby mugs and a fancy notepad from Kelly and Bill.

After we exchanged presents a few of my friends came over; the few included Kelly, Bill, Chris, Courtney, Patrick, and Eric. It was a lovely dinner as usual. All the latkes were gone in a instant and the rest was devoured as well.

So that was A Snellings Hanukah! Yay!

See you all again soon,
Jessica

  1. I've been enjoying lots of latkes well into the new year. I swear I need to learn how to make them myself.

  2. Latkes are so easy to make! My freshman year in college if I ever had hash browns in the fridge my room mates would always ask me to make them!
